Setup Picture password in Windows 8+SS
One
of the new features in the Windows 8 Consumer Preview is the ability to
set up a picture password. These are new innovative passwords from
Microsoft which make logging in a breeze.
Picture Passwords are one of the most innovative new features provided in Windows 8 that enables you to Logon by touching or clicking specific parts of a picture to authenticate.
Any picture that resides in your picture library, or on your hard drive's other location can be used as a reference to help you remember where the three parts of your picture password are located. Basic gestures such as dragging your mouse along a specific part of the picture can also be used as your password.
Setting Up The Picture Password in Windows 8
1.Open up TheCharms bar by either swiping in from the right, or moving your cursor to the top right and down. Then Select Options As Shown Below
2.click on More PC Settings.
3.select Users --> Create a new picture password on the right hand side.
4.You Will Get Following Welcome Screen.
The next step is to select Choose Picture
5.Now You can choose any picture you like, it could be one stored locally on your machine, from your Facebook, Flickr or SkyDrive.
6.You can then position the picture to your liking
7.Once you’ve selected your picture you can begin to draw your pattern. You will be asked to draw it 3 times so the system learns it accurately. You can draw pretty much any pattern you want as long as it includes 3 gestures. It does make a difference which direction you draw lines and circles, as well as the order that you do them in. You can also tap on specific locations on the picture if you so wish.
8.I’ve drawn in the pattern that I used for this demonstration so you can see for yourself what I did.
Once you’ve successfully repeated the pattern 3 times, Windows 8 will save it and set this as your password next time you log on.
Review:
The picture password is a new innovative way to log into Windows 8. Some users will probably find it much easier to log in by drawing a pattern on a picture instead of remembering tricky passwords. Of course it’s nearly impossible to draw the exact same pattern every time, so Windows will be quite lenient with you. As long as you get the general pattern, direction and taps in order you should be able to log in without any problems.
And of course, even if you are having trouble logging in with your picture password, you can always resort back to your traditional password.
