How To Open Folder Using Command Prompt

To do this, open a command prompt from the keyboard by typing Win+R, or click on Start \ Run then type cmd in the run box and click OK.

Navigate to the folder you want displayed in Windows Explorer by using the Change Directory command "cd" (with out the quotes).

In the below,screen shotI have cd to the Windows folder.

Now type the following command..

start .

Note:- above command is typed as start, followed by a space, followed by a period.

…and Windows Explorer will open to the folder location that you were in at the command prompt, and display it's contents.

If you want Windows Explorer to open the parent folder of the current location, just type

start ..

In the below screenshot, the root of C:\ is the parent folder of Windows.

This trick is pretty cool and very useful for any command line geek.
Also, at the beginning of this article, I mentioned the capability to open a folder location in a Command prompt, by right clicking on a folder and selecting "Command Prompt Here".

In Vista, it is included by default, but in XP it is not. If you are missing this option in XP, you can add it to the context menu by following these steps:

• Click on Start \Run then type regedit and click OK
• In the left menu tree, go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell
• Right click on shell and select New \ Key
• Name the key Open Command Prompt Here
• Right click on the newly created key (Open Command Prompt Here) and select New \ Key
• Name the new key command
• Select the newly created command key and double-click on default value
• Enter cmd.exe /k cd %1 and click on Ok

If you select this option, you can allocate particular space to be used by Ready Boost.

Aakash 2 Launch in April 2012

The upgraded version of the cheapest Android Tablet, Aakash will be available from April 2012, HRD Minister Kapil Sibal said. The next version of Aakash touted as Aakash II will be available with much better configuration at the same price point as the original Aakash.

Kapil Sibal said in Lok Sabha that DataWind will supply 1 Lakh tablets with 700 MHz Cortex A8 processor, 3200mAH battery and a capacitive touch screen. Aakash II will now support a longer battery life and a much better touch screen.

Aakash II will be available for Rs. 2250 for students which can be subsidised by Government which will further reduce its price to Rs. 1250.
It is also worth knowing that Aakash was launched last year. It carried a 7” screen size with Android 2.2 OS running on 366 MHz Arm 11 processor with a 2100mAh battery.

Windows 8 to Be Released in October 2012 – Windows 8 Editions Revealed

Windows 8 is inching closer to release with the introduction of different previews over the last few months. As covered in our previous article, the Windows 8 Developer Preview looked promising and the Consumer Preview more so. Microsoft’s usual Alpha, Beta then RC (Release Candidate) strategy for release has been pretty much followed this time around too. The Developer Preview was the Alpha version, the Consumer Preview was the Beta version and finally, the recently announced Release Preview will be close to what was Release Candidate for Windows 7 development.

The Release Preview of Windows 8, due for launch in the first week of June will be quite close to what final retail Windows 8 editions will be. This latest and possibly last “preview” of Windows 8 will incorporate changes from the last 2 previews and will fix most bugs and kinks. After listening to public and developer feedback, Microsoft has made changes to its upcoming operating system and promises better performance and user friendliness. The changes in the Release Preview are not very apparent to the eye, but there are quite a few. Slight UI changes have been made as well and they will probably be the most noticeable differences.

Windows 8 Editions Revealed:

Windows 8 is scheduled to release officially by the end of October, which means a RTM (Release to Manufacturer) version will be available to developers and subscribers of MSDN and Technet roughly a month or so earlier. RTM will basically be the retail version, just made available to developers sooner than us poor consumers. This is basically saying that Windows 8 will be out by October since the pirates of the high seas…er webs will make sure all RTM versions are plastered over every file sharing network there is.

Anyway, announcement of the Windows 8 Release Preview was followed closely by the announcement of how many Windows 8 Editions will be available. Unlike previous Windows versions that had more editions than people have teeth, Windows 8 is opting for a simpler path. Instead of the Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium so on and so forth, the number of Windows 8 Editions will be just 4, out of which only 2 will be actually available for retail purchase. The Windows 8 Editions are are follows:

1. Windows 8
2. Windows 8 Pro
3. Windows 8 Enterprise
4. Windows 8 RT (RunTime)

Windows 8 will contain all the cool new features we’ve seen previously, the new UI, new taskbar, new Windows Explorer, better performance and power efficiency and lots more. So basically Windows 8 is going to be the main edition that will be seen in most homes. It’s pretty much analogous to the previous “Home Premium” edition. The average user will be more than satisfied with the edition simply labeled Windows 8.

Windows 8 Pro will contain all the features from the Windows 8 edition and more for professionals and power users such as virtual desktop, bitlocker, group policy management, remote desktop etc. But, the most important point to note here is that Windows 8 Pro is the only edition that can be upgraded from Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate.

Windows 8 Enterprise will be available only to corporations and companies. It will include all of Windows 8 Pro’s feature set plus much more for software professionals such as advanced security, network protocols, advanced virtualization and much more.

Last but one of the most interesting editions will be Windows 8 RT, which stands for “RunTime”. This edition will be only available to OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers) who make mobile computer solutions such as tablet PC’s. Since Windows 8 will be the first Windows to support the ARM architecture, Windows 8 RT will be optimized for mobile applications, touch based UIs and will feature touch-optimized applications and programs. Special versions of Microsoft Office will come bundled with Windows 8 RT, but it will not come with Windows Media Player.

Begginning of tut:

Start->Run->type cmd
in each drive type attrib /s /d it will display the list of all files in that drive along with folders.concntrate on files having SHR attribute.normally virus files have two characteristics
1.SHR attribute
2.Queer name like amvo.exe,r6r.exe,autorun.inf etc.

Note:some system files also have this attribute like MSDOS.SYS,IO.SYS etc so before deleting googling about that file will help.

to delete these files type c:\>del /f /s /a <filename with extension>

>> to view the content of files with .inf,.vbs,.c etc i.e files which r not batch files or executables.goto explorer n then goto the required drive or folder n type the filename with extension it wil open up in notepad.

>>there is another method also.goto the required location n type attrib -s -h -r filename
then use gui to see that hiiden file.if it is not n exe or .bat or then open it with notepad.Here you will get some information like a file name or a registry key which the virus affects or a startup item or process.Change this or uncheck the startup.

if file is not deleted like it says access denied it means it already used by some process.open task manager n find a process of the same name or some process which is not a valid windows process(better google) n end that process.

if not found open msconfig goto statrup tab n look at if a startup items seems queer(u wil have this feeling if u r n experienced windows user otherwise all da startup items may seem queer.)uncheck that.u may also learn about da startup item by googling.after unchecking restart the computer then restart the computer.

This method is effective in removing some spywares or some small but annoying virii like maskrider etc. which r sometimes not detected by antivirus softwares.

Connect Multiple Phone-modems in PC; China Mobile Also
