There is a Fn+F(number) key combination to lock and unlock a touchpad.
My Lenovo uses Fn+F8. I see a symbol of a rectangle with diagonal slash
in different color on the key. My friend's 10 year old Gateway has a
F9 key with "Pad Lock" in blue on it, to be used with the blue Fn key.
My Acer has a blue Fn+F7 key with a finger touching a rectangle in blue
on it. Your keyboard might be marked in similar fashion, or see
instructions from Gateway. Or pad might be disabled in the BIOS setting
or on the Device Manager of Windows.
