Who would've known that Computex would be the official coming-out party for what's likely the final build of Windows
8? It sure looks that way, with Acer introducing new Windows 8
all-in-one PCs today. The new U Series is being announced alongside new
Aspire S7 Ultrabooks by Acer, with the Aspire 7600U (27-inch) and the Aspire 5600U (23-inch) slated to ship with Win8.
The Aspire 7600U supports up to 64-point simultaneous touch from all angles, enabling use by multiple users at once. Can't really imagine why you'd want multi-user Metro interactions, but then again, we haven't had a chance to see what it's truly capable of. It features 0 to 90 degree viewing and swivels at four sides when laid flat for enjoyment by more than one user. There's a 1080p display, an ultra-slim design and Dolby audio.
The 5600U is said to be the thinnest AIO available, but otherwise, will likely sport most of the same specifications. Speaking of which, Acer's being quiet on what kind of hardware will fill the rigs, and there's no price or release date set yet, either. This fall, you can bet we'll hear more.
